Joe G. Moss Field

Joe G. Moss Field

Joe G. Moss Field serves as the home field for the Hinds Eagles baseball team. Since head coach Sam Temple has taking over the baseball program, Moss received many improvements with more to come in the future.

In 2018, brand new turf was installed that covers the entire home plate area and continues down the first and third base lines. The new turf also covers all of the foul territory from first base/third base to each respective dugout and from home plate to the backstop. In the turf directly behind home plate now reads EAGLES in white with a Hinds maroon outline.

In the fall of 2019, the infield playing surface and pitcher's mound was professionally redone to make the Moss one of the best surfaces to play on in the MACCC.

Some of the other major facility updates that have occurred during the 16-year tenure of Temple include the following:
  • Outfield playing surface being redone
  • Updated seated back chairs/stands for fans
  • New dugouts
  • Hitting facility
  • Brick backstop that ranges from behind home plate down by base lines
Joe G. Moss's central location in the State of Mississippi also makes it an attractive place for four-year universities and professional baseball scouts to come and recruit/evaluate. A great example of this is the MACCC Sophomore Showcase (the premiere recruiting event for all sophomore baseball players in the MACCC) is held annually at the Moss and is attended, on average, by over a hundred different four-year universities and
professional baseball scouts.
