Chapman Field has been the on-campus home of Islanders Baseball and Softball since 2002. The baseball field received major upgrades prior to the 2012 season, including a complete overhaul of the playing surface, installation of upgraded drainage systems, and new fences. The baseball field also added lights, making night baseball on Ward Island a reality for the first time in program history.
With bleacher seating for over 500 and additional viewing areas for standing spectators down the first base line, Chapman Field provides an outstanding atmosphere for college baseball fans. There is additional seating on the outfield berm, where fans often tailgate and grill during Islanders games. Berm parking and picnic tables are reserved and must be purchased through the Islanders Ticket Office at 361-825-BALL(2255). Fans wanting to view the game from the Berm can use bleacher seating or sit on the sloped hill using a blanket or camp style chair.
Parking is available in the Turtle Cove lot beyond the right-field fence. For weekday games, spectators who do not have their vehicle registered with the University must use the ParkMobile app to pay for hourly on-demand parking. Campus visitors using the ParkMobile app should select Zone 4510 for surface lots or Zone 4513 for the parking garage. Parking is free on campus from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Monday.
