James S. Malosky Stadium

Football, Soccer, Softball, Track & Field

Northern Minnesota's premier outdoor athletic venue, James S. Malosky Stadium has been the home of Bulldog football for the past 50 seasons, UMD women's soccer since its inception in 1994, and the Bulldog softball team since 2014.

In 2010, a $6.5 million, four-level structure, which includes a concession area, spacious club room and press/broadcast facilities, was added to the grandstand. Additionally, 2013 saw a new $325,000 scoreboard, 48' x 33' in size, added to the north end zone and now contains a 12' x 22' LED videoscreen. In 2016 the turf was replaced at a cost of $600,000 and in 2017 a new $1.2 million eight lane 400 m track was installed. Fans can experience first class service in the Superior Beverages Club Lounge located on the third floor of the stadium.  Thanks to the generosity and partnership with Superior Beverages, fans can take in the Bulldogs in style.  Featuring a full bar set-up, Bulldog branded tables and leather chairs, this club level is the "hot spot" during cold November games.  The club level also features to terraces where fans can stand and watch the game from above while cheering with our Bulldog supporters.

Fitted with an outfield fence that stretches around the 50-yard line featuring windguards decorated with Bulldog Softball and the retired number 14 of UMD alum Mandy Matula, Malosky Stadium became the alternate home field of UMD softball in 2014. The Bulldogs play a handful of their early spring games at Malosky Stadium. In 4 seasons they have a 20-9 record at the stadium. Home plate sits just outside the scoreboard endzone, with the out-of-bounds line serving as the third base line and end zone line serving as the first base line.

In addition to housing the Bulldogs, the 4,500-seat Malosky Stadium also hosts a number of high school athletic events throughout the year as well as various UMD intramural and club sport activities.
