Red Dragon Field was completed and dedicated in the fall of 2001. It was constructed by Clark Companies of Delhi, NY, who are known throughout the world as one of the premier sports facility builders. In 2003, Red Dragon Field hosted the NCAA Div. III women's soccer championship weekend, which Oneonta won defeating the University of Chicago 2-1 in overtime.
In the summer of 2015, the field was renovated and a new field turf surface was installed. The new surface on the field is Revolution Turf, which was the exact surface that the 2015 Women's World Cup was played on. The field is lined for both soccer and lacrosse, which will expand the facility’s current use, while opening it up for expanded campus recreation and intramurals. As part of the project a new scoreboard was installed along with new fiber optic cable for streaming.
